Effect of Vitamin E on the Striated Muscular Tissue of Mice

Abstract
The experimental study was undertaken to observe the histological features of cardiac muscle and skeletal muscle that follow vitamin E long term injection and a state of vitamin E deficiency in the mice.
The result indicated that vitamin E administration caused a positive thickning of muscle fibers in
both muscles, whereas an amount of interatitial connective tissue were reduced especially in the cardiac muscle.
In regards to the vitamin E deficiency, muscle fiber atrophy, proliferation of connective tissue and
scattered hyaline degeneration were observed in cardiac muscle. In the skeletal muscle, those degenerative changes were less prominent while fiber size irregularity and internal rowing of nuclei were noted.
